Welcome to the official web site of Groton Parks and Recreation! The department strives to improve the quality of life of the community through programs that promote Health and Wellness to all ages, contributing to Economic Development, ensuring Social Equity to those facing financial or physical challenges, and through Conservation measures that protect our parks and open space.

Register for a program today, explore our beautiful parks and open spaces, and discover all that Groton Parks and Recreation has to offer!

These four pillars form the foundation for the department to positively impact the Quality of Place in Groton. Quality of Place is an important component of economic development that drives where people want to live, work and invest.

CONSERVATION SOCIAL EQUITY
The department encourages "active lifestyles" through walking programs, youth programs, adult and 55+ fitness classes, hiking trails, health screenings and serving affordable healthy meals. We bring money into the community through programs and special events. Last year, 28% of our recreation program revenue - $140,000 in all - came from non-residents. We practice conservation of natural resources through tree care, trail maintenance and the management of open spaces and coastal resources. The department is committed to social equity through a generous scholarship program, providing activities for individuals with special needs, creating opportunities for inclusion and providing ADA-accessible recreational facilities.
