Groton Special Olympics competes in many Traditional and Unified sports.  Unified sports have volunteers competing side by side with Special Olympians.  Coaches and volunteers are needed for all sports.

Winter:  Floor Hockey (November- March) and Swimming (January -June)
Spring: Track and Field, Wheelchair Track and Field, Tennis, Cycling, Soccer (March - June)
Summer:  Sailing, Golf, Softball, Bocce (June - September)
Fall:  Volleyball, Bowling (September - November)

To get started:

  • Athlete must be eight years of age or older, a person never ages out of Special Olympics!

  • Visit a medical professional to get the Athlete Medical form completed and signed. 

  • Complete Adult Athlete form or Minor Athlete form.

  • Return the completed medical and athlete release form to Eileen Cicchese.

    3. US Mail to Eileen Cicchese, Special Olympics Groton, 29 Spicer Ave, Noank, CT 06340

  • Register for Special Recreation through Groton Parks and Recreation.

Coaches and volunteers are needed for all sports. To become a volunteer, contact Eileen Cicchese at ecicchese@groton-ct.gov or 860-563-5691.
