Park Status and Re-opening

All parks trails and open spaces are open, but some facilities within those parks are closed or are open with restrictions.  Note that additional executive orders from the Governor related to physical distance, masks and other preventive measures are in place and must be followed.  Visit ct.gov/Coronavirus for more information.

Playgrounds - open with physical distancing required, playground equipment is not disinfected, so users should take appropriate precautions and abide by posted maximum partcipants allowed signs.

Athletic Fields - open with physical distancing required, league must implement appropriate safety and prevention protocols.

Basketball Courts - open with physical distancing required

Beach Volleyball - open with physical distancing required

Shennecossett Golf Course - Open with restrictions listed at ShennyGolf.com.

Esker Point Beach - Keep blankets 15 feet apart

Volleyball at Esker Point Beach

  • Clean and wipe down your equipment, including volleyballs, bags, chairs and water bottles before and after each match/training. Sanitize volleyballs after every match. 

  • Avoid touching court nets, posts, benches, etc. if you can

  • When switching sides of the court, go around the outside of the poles to your right to maintain distance from opposing players

  • Avoid all incidental contact. Try to stay at least six feet apart from other players. Do not make physical contact with them (such as shaking hands or a high five)

  • Avoid hand contact when possible, i.e. Kick the balls to your opponent or to return balls from other courts whenever possible

  • Leave the court area as soon as possible when done playing. Do not socialize in court area.

Tennis at Farquhar Park

  • Open two cans of tennis balls that do not share the same number on the ball. 

  • Take one set of numbered balls, and have your playing partner take a set of balls from the other can.

  • Proceed with play, making sure to pick up your set of numbered balls only. Should a ball with the other number wind up on your side of the court, do not touch the ball with your hands. Use your racquet head or feet to advance the ball to the other side of the court.

Pickleball at Groton Hockey Rink

  • Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays 9:00am-8:00pm

  • Wednesday 9:00am-4:30pm

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am -12:00pm

  • Courts available on a first come, first serve basis

  • If players are waiting, please limit play to 1 hour.

  • Those players waiting must wait outside court area

  • Please bring your own individual ball clearly marked

  • All players must wear mask entering and exiting the courts Consider wearing masks during play

  • Wash your hands with soap and water and bring personal use hand sanitizer to the courts

  • Avoid contact with others, such as hand shaking and high fives

  • Thoroughly disinfect paddles, balls, bags and other equipment after play

Pavilions at Sutton Park

  • Available for rental at reduced capacity.
