Groton Parks and Recreation is committed to providing the highest quality service to our customers. If you are not fully satisfied with any of our services or classes, please give us the opportunity to resolve your issue.

Residency
To be considered a Resident, you must have your primary residence in the Town of Groton.Please note, we reserve the right to request proof of residency.

Refunds 
Refunds may be granted for requests received prior to the start of the second meeting date for normal programs.

  • Refunds for summer camps may be granted provided the request is received two weeks prior to the start of the camp.  Refunds made less than two weeks in advance will only be granted if the spot can be filled with someone on the wait list.

  • Customers can choose to get a refund (minus a $15 administrative fee) or to get the full refund amount put on account to be used for another program.

  • Administrative fees are waived for refunds due to cancelled programs.

  • Please allow 2 weeks from request for refund checks to be processed.  Refunds by credit card are applied the next business day.

Scholarships
We are committed to providing opportunities for all residents of Groton regardless of ability to pay!  Please apply for scholarships prior to registering since they cannot be awarded retroactively.

To apply, complete the family information section on the scholarship form and bring it and the following documents for ALL HOUSEHOLD members living at the address to Groton Parks and Recreation, 27 Spicer Ave., Noank.  (860) 536-5680

  • Proof of Wages/Earnings for the past four (4) weeks for all working family members

  • Proof of Alimony Received

  • Proof of Social Security Income / Social Security Disability

  • Proof of Supplemental Income from State to include rent assistance (rental agreement), food (SNAP) subsidies, unemployment, cash assistance

  • Child Support  (court letter, bank statements, etc.)

  • Any outside source of income

Cancellations
At times it is necessary for us to cancel programs due to circumstances beyond our control. Every effort is made to notify participants and schedule make-up sessions. When schools are closed due to inclement weather, all programs are cancelled. Programs may be cancelled due to low enrollment.

Field & Park Reservations

Participant Behavior
Participants in programs and users of Town of Groton Parks and Recreation Department facilities are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. Participants shall behave in a safe and responsible manner, show courtesy and respect to other participants, volunteers and staff, and treat equipment and facilities with care. Groton Parks and Recreation Department uses a positive approach to behavior management. However, the Department reserves the right to take appropriate action based on an evaluation of each situation on its own merits.

Public Safety
If you appear impaired or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, we will suggest that you allow us to help find someone to drive you and your child home. We will notify proper authorities if refused.
