Summer Camps and Activities


Groton Parks and Recreation offers a fantastic selection of day camps, sport camps and specialty camps to make your child's summer one they'll never forget. Open to residents and non-residents!

Day Camps Sport and Specialty Camps Teen Adventure Camp
All-day fun at 3 sites around town! Campers enjoy games, sports, crafts, field trips, and more for a summer they'll never forget. Register for one week or the entire summer - 7 weeks available. Free breakfast and lunch are offered at two sites. Camps are available for children ages 4-12. Campers focus on a new or favorite activity in our fun specialty and sport camps! Topics include sewing, Legos, and sports of all kinds. Whether your child is an aspiring baseball all-star or skateboarding legend, we have something they will love.

Keep your teen active this summer! Teen campers love our adventurous full-week camps and special one day trips to local and regional attrractions such as amusement parks, extreme sports, or other exciting activities.

Leader In Training *New*
The Leader In Training program is designed to offer qualified young people an opportunity to prepare for positions such as camp counselors. Candidates must have a genuine interest in youth development, working with younger campers, and be willing to commit the required energy, enthusiasm, and cooperation in all aspects of the program. A positive and cooperative attitude and pleasant disposition are critical personal attributes for the position. Emphasis is placed upon developing leadership skills, sensitivity to children, and supervision skills.

Candidates and parents must complete and submit the LIT application and regiser for the program.  Three reference letters from unrelated adults, such as teachers, group leaders, or other adults who know the candidate well enough to evaluate potential for working with children are also required.

Selected candidates will be interviewed, and for those "hired" as an LIT, a fee $30 per week ($50 for non-residents) is due.

In order to request any special assistance due to a child's special needs, please fill out our Inclusion Information Packet for Summer Day Camps.

Requests for refunds must be made 2 weeks prior to the start of any camp session. A $15 administrative fee is charged for all money returned.

Per Connecticut General Statute 19a-77 we are required to disclose that our programs are not licensed by the State Office of Early Childhood.
