Summer Day Camps

Groton Parks and Recreation Summer Camp

Summer Day Camp  
Campers ages 4-12 participate in groups by age in activities that include sports, arts & crafts, outdoor games, literacy, drama, music, dress up days, beach trips, water activities, special events, and within a caring and safe environment!  Camps are open to residents and non-residents. 

To register, select one of two sites:
SB Butler School or Mary Morrisson SchoolThe Mary Morrisson site opens at 7:30 am and it also has extended day camp available from 3pm - 5pm.

Camp Trips
Most Camp field trips have an additional fee (but beach trips are free!) in addition to the price of camp and campers must be registered for the appropriate week and site of summer camp to register for camp trips. Remember to apply sunscreen at home and pack spray sunscreen, lunch, snack, and beverage if needed. For beach or water-related trips, include a swim suit, towel and change of clothes. Remember to label all of your child's possessions.  Click here for a list of trips and fees.

Inclusion Packet
In order to request any special assistance due to a child's special needs, please fill out our Inclusion Information Packet. The packet contains all of information we need to give your child the best summer camp experience we can!
Day Camp for Kids with Special Needs

Camp Button is a specialized camp for children ages 4-16 who require a more controlled camp setting (typically child is in a self-contained classroom).   All campers are evaluated for appropriate placement into Camp Button. Camp runs noon-3pm (M-Th) and 10-3 on Fridays at Claude Chester and is open to residents only. 


Inclusion at Discover Camp
Groton Parks and Recreation includes children with special needs into camp.  To provide a successful camp experience please complete the checklist.


Registration Deadline
The deadline to register for each week of camp and field trips for that week is Wednesday of the week prior, provided space allows.  Children signed up after the maximum enrollment is reached are put on the waiting list. 

Late Pick-up Fee
Consistent late pick-ups without significant communication may lead to dismissal from the program.  Fees must be paid before the child is eligible to attend the next day of camp!  Fee may be paid on-line or at the Groton Parks and Recreation Office.

$10      1-10 minutes late
$15      11-15 minutes late
$20      16-20 minutes late
$30      21-25 minutes late
$50      after 25 minutes - if camp staff is unable to stay at the site, officials will be called to remain with your child(ren) until you arrive.


Sorry, no transfers between sites or refunds within 2 weeks of start date for each camp week.  A $15 administrative fee is charged for any money returned.  Customers get full credit if they place money on account and use it for a future program.  We do not issue refunds for a child who is suspended or dismissed from continuing attendance due to behavior issues
