The Inspection Services Division reviews all construction plans to insure structural, electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, sprinklers, and gas and water installations are in compliance with the State of Connecticut Building Code and Town of Groton Zoning Regulations. Much time is spent inspecting all of the above in a step by step process until the project is completed. This must be done on all projects from large new commercial buildings to residential swimming pools, decks and sheds. Inspectors are licensed by the State of Connecticut which involves rigorous testing and continuing education to keep their license status. Inspection Services is also responsible for addressing zoning and building complaints from citizens, compliance of properties with the new property maintenance code for the Neighborhood Revitalization Zone, Historic District Regulations, Housing Code for rental properties and the State Demolition Code.
