ELECTION INFORMATION

Voting District and Location of Polling Place
District 1         Groton Public Library, 52 Newtown Road, Groton
District 2         West Side Middle School, 250 Brandegee Avenue, Groton
District 3         Groton City Municipal Building, 295 Meridian Street, Groton
District 4         Mary Morrison Elementary School, 154 Tollgate Road, Groton
District 5         School Administration Building, 1300 Flanders Road, Mystic
District 6         S.B. Butler School, 155 Ocean View Avenue, Mystic
District 7         Fitch Senior High School, 101 Groton Long Point Road, Groton
Polling places will be open from 6:00am to 8:00pm.

New Voter Election Day Registration Law:
Any person who qualifies as eligible to register to vote may register and cast a ballot on Election Day at the designated Election day Registration (EDR) location.  For the November 4, 2014 election, the EDR location is at Fitch High School, in the Cafeteria, from 6 am – 8 pm.  Please contact the Registrar’s, if you have additional questions (860) 441-6650.  
Last day to REGISTER TO VOTE by mail is October 21st.  The Registrars of Voters office is located at 2 Fort Hill Road, Groton CT 06340.  Please call the Registrars of Voters for more registration information and hours of operation at 860-441-6650.
Eligibility to Vote:

  1.  18 years of age as of November 4, 2014
  2.  U.S. Citizen
  3.  Resident of Groton, CT
  4.  Have not been convicted of a disenfranchising felony, or if so, your voting rights have been restored

Absentee Ballots are available beginning October 3rd.  In order to be eligible to vote by Absentee Balloting, the elector must expect to be unable to appear at the polling place during the hours of voting for one to the following reasons:

  1. Your active service in the Armed Forces of the United States
  2. Your absence from the town during all of the hours of voting
  3. Your illness
  4. Your religious tenets forbid secular activity on the day of the election or referendum
  5. Your duties as an election or referendum official at a polling place other than your own during all the hours of voting
  6. Your physical disability

If you determine that you are unable to vote in person on Election Day, you may request an Absentee Ballot from the Town Clerk’s Office. To receive the absentee ballot, an APPLICATION must be filed. You can request an application be mailed to you by calling the Town Clerk’s office at 860-441-6640 or complete an application in person at the Town Clerk's office. You may also print out an application from this website: www.sots.ct.gov .  You can then either mail the application to the Town Clerk’s office, 45 Fort Hill Road, Groton, CT 06340, or present the application in person. The Town Clerk’s office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.
