NOVEMBER 4, 2014 State Election
Polling places are open from 6am to 8pm.
New Voter Election Day Registration Law:
Any person who qualifies as eligible to register to vote may register and cast a ballot on Election Day at the Registrar of Voters Office, 2 Fort Hill Road from 6 am – 8 pm. Please contact the Registrar's, if you have additional questions (860) 441-6650.
Eligibility to Vote:
- 18 years of age as of November 4, 2014
- U.S. Citizen
- Resident of Groton, CT
- Have not been convicted of a disenfranchising felony, or if so, your voting rights have been restored
Absentee Ballots are available beginning October 3rd. In order to be eligible to vote by Absentee Balloting, the elector must expect to be unable to appear at the polling place during the hours of voting for one to the following reasons:
- Your active service in the Armed Forces of the United States
- Your absence from the town during all of the hours of voting
- Your illness
- Your religious tenets forbid secular activity on the day of the election or referendum
- Your duties as an election or referendum official at a polling place other than your own during all the hours of voting
- Your physical disability
If you determine that you are unable to vote in person on Election Day, you may request an Absentee Ballot from the Town Clerk's Office. To receive the absentee ballot, an APPLICATION must be filed. The application is available by calling 860-441-6640 or visiting the Town Clerk's office in person. You may also print out an application from this website: www.sots.ct.gov . You can then either mail the application to the Town Clerk's office, 45 Fort Hill Road, Groton, CT 06340, or present the application in person. The Town Clerk's office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30 pm.
Last day to REGISTER TO VOTE in person is October 28th. Last day to REGISTER TO VOTE by mail is October 21st. The Registers of Voters office is located at 2 Fort Hill Road, Groton CT 06340.
