The Parks and Forestry Division maintains all parks, athletic fields, school grounds, open spaces, public properties, 13 cemeteries, and the trails in Copp Property and Pequot Woods. It also hosts the annual Arbor Day event by planting new trees around town. Through the efforts of the Parks Division and the Department of Public Works, Groton was selected as a Tree City USA for the 18th consecutive year.
