Beach Volleyball

Games are played week nights - rain or shine at Esker Point Beach. Games are cancelled only at time of play if it is thundering or lightning. All player's must fill out the League Waiver. Team Captains must also register the team in the appropriate league. Special thanks to the SandBox for providing nets!

Groton Basketball Association

Groton Basketball Association

GBA is a volunteer-coached, youth recreational league that places high emphasis on fun, instruction/skill development, and good sportsmanship.  Registration deadline for players is Oct 28th. A $25 late fee applies to anyone registering after the deadline and those players are placed on a Waiting List. A decision regarding player placement from the Waiting List is made after Nov 7th. The first week of practices will begin the week of November 13th. Game information will be sent out to families when teams and schedules are finalized. Age is determined as of January 1. All players must attend one skills assessment. Assessments will be held on Tuesday October 24th and Saturday October 28th at the Groton Community Center- 61 Fort Hill Road. See full assessment schedule below. Volunteer coaches needed! All head coaches may sign one child up for free provided they sign up for and attend one of the mandatory coaches training sessions. Interested in coaching? Call 860-536-5680.

    • Micro Boys and Girls: 6:00pm.
    • Junior Boys and Girls: 6:45pm.
    • Senior Boys and Girls: 7:30pm.

    • Micro Boys and Girls: 9:00am.
    • Junior Boys and Girls: 9:45am.
    • Senior Boys and Girls: 10:30 am.

Indoor Volleyball

The Groton Indoor Volleyball League games occur at Groton Middle School from October - May. Games begin at 6, 7, and 8 p.m.  Seasons run a minimum of 8 weeks plus playoffs.  A maximum of 12 teams will play per night. Decisions on number of teams in each division will be determined by Groton Parks and Recreation.  All official communication from Groton Parks and Recreation will go through team captains by email. It will be their responsibility to pass along information to their players. Leagues include Women's, Men's, Coed and Open.   Groton Parks and Recreation welcomes those who identify as transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, or in other ways.  We want to place you in the league that meets your needs and where you feel most comfortable, so please register for the league you feel most closely suits you.

PICKLEBALL LESSONS

Pickleball lessons will be offered on a limited basis at the Groton Community Center this fall. With guided instruction at both beginner and intermediate levels, these lessons will help you to understand the game on a higher level. Beginner is a great option for anyone looking to learn about the game while Intermediate is great for taking your game to the next level! Please attend a lesson before attending drop-in play. Lesson fee includes open play after lesson. Join the growing world of pickleball enthusiasts today!
  • Beginner Pickleball Lessons--Instruction in the fundamentals of Pickleball to Beginners include: Stance, Serve, Ground Stroke, Dinking, Scoring, and No Volley Zone. Participates will play a structured game at the conclusion of the class.
  • Taking Your PB Game To the Next Level--This class will focus on improving your PB skills. Special attention will focus on striving towards intermediate skill development--emphasizing the Dink, the Third Shot Drop, Court Position, Blocking and consistent strategic application.
