NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

August 2, 2022

Notice is hereby given that the Groton Town Council will hold a Public Hearing, in accordance to Town Charter 5.5.3, on August 2, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at Thrive 55+ Active Living Center (Senior Center), 102 Newtown Road, Groton, Connecticut,

to solicit input on a proposed ordinance.

SUMMARY OF THE ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH A PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT

FOR SURVIVING SPOUSES OF FALLEN EMERGENCY WORKERS

The proposed ordinance will provide an abatement of property taxes for spouses of firefighters including those serving as civilian employees of the federal government at the Naval Submarine Base New London, emergency medical technicians, Town of Groton police officers, Groton Long Point police officer, and City of Groton police officers, serving within the boundaries of the Town of Groton, who die on duty while in performance of their duties.
